THE KENT ZIPPERS TEAM DO IT AGAIN
The Zippers Bowling Association played
a second charity game against Folkestone Outdoor Bowls Club last Saturday and succeeded in beating the home team 104 - 100. This was followed by a BBQ which ended a most enjoyable day for all.The sum of £354.00 was raised which will go towards cardiac units and
rehab units for equipment they may need. Again
this year Zippers Bowling Associaltion had a very profitable year and £24,500.00 was made available for donations to hospitals
up and down the country. Our share in Kent resulted
in cheques being presented to the Queen Elizabeth, Queen Mother Hospital in Margate for £2,444.00, William Harvey Hospital,
Ashford for £900.00. Two payments were also made
to rehab units in Ramsgate and Folkestone for £1,150.00
The Zipper’s Bowling Association
was founded in 1996 for bowlers that have heart problems. Any bowler who has had invasive heart surgery, key-hole surgery, a stent or new value put in, or had a pacemaker
fitted can be invited to become members. Membership,
by invitation, is now well in excess of 250 and consists of both ladies and men from over 30 counties who play bowls - both
inside and out. Members are invited from Bowling
Associations or clubs who are willing to host a Charity
Day. Since the founding of the Association, over
£125,000 has been raised to provide equipment for cardiac, coronary care units and rehabilitation centres, in over 60 hospitals around the country. The Zipper’s Bowling Association raised over £24,500 nationwide
during the past year. The monies raised are then
awarded to Cardiac Units around the country.

The managers of the estate on which the club is are implementing a
gate closure system which will restrict access to only one road to the club. It will affect anyone who bowls at B&G in
