Dover District Bowling League Rules.
As agreed at the Annual General Meeting of 1977 and amended at the Annual General Meetings of 1994, 2002 and
2004.

The name of the organisation is the Dover District Bowling League and all games will be played
under Bowls England rules.

The joining fee for each club will be £5.00. Annual fees will be decided at the next and subsequent
annual General Meeting.

(a) Games should be played on the dates published in the fixture list and may only be postponed
if County competition requirements on the day of the fixture cause insufficient rinks to be available for a league match.
(b) If a club decides it cannot meet a match commitment, the opponent club shall
be informed not later than 10.00am on the day prior to the match.
(c) In the event of a postponement, the club requesting the postponement
shall offer three dates to the opponent and the match shall be re-arranged and played within twenty-four days. The term of
twenty-four days shall include the original fixture date and the date of the re-arranged match. The Secretary shall be advised
of the date of the re-arranged match not more than seven clear days after the postponement.
(d) If the re-arranged match is not played within the time limits
defined (acts of God, war etc accepted) the Secretary and the representatives of two clubs not involved in the match will
meet to determine which club is at fault.
(e) The penalty for default is as defined in By-law 3.

The matches are two triples home and two triples away of 18 ends for each triple at each fixture. Dress:
Greys with white tops or club shirts.

Scoring to be on a points system a total of twelve available.
Four points for overall shots win. Two points each for a draw.
Two points to be awarded to each winning triple. One point each for
a draw.
Shots for and against shall be recorded and shall be used in the event of a tie
for any league position.
The Committee whose decision is final shall decide any dispute on any question.

The Committee shall consist of one representative from each club who will act as co-ordinator for his club.
He will report the results of matches to the league Secretary not later than Saturday morning of that playing week. Five members
of the Committee shall form a quorum. The Chairmanship of the league shall rotate on an alphabetical basis continuing with
Betteshanger in 2005 except where provision must be made for the accession of any further clubs. All officers of the league
to retire at the end of each year. All member clubs to submit the name of the following season’s representative by the
31st December each year.
The Secretary/Treasurer may be elected from the body of appointed representatives
or, at the representative’s discretion, co-opted from the membership of any of the constituent clubs.
The Secretary/Treasurer shall convene, attend and prepare minutes of all meetings
of the league and he shall conduct the correspondence of the league. He shall submit a report of the years working to the
Annual General Meeting. He shall act under the direction of the committee and on his retirement shall hand over to his successor,
or to the Chairman, all books, papers and any property of the league.
The home team to provide tea and biscuits. Green fees for matches shall be the
responsibility of the home team.

An Annual General Meeting is to be held in November for the consideration of reports and proposals. The venue
to be arranged by the Secretary. In order that clubs may have an opportunity for prior discussion, all Notices of Motion to
be considered at the Annual General Meeting shall be sent to the Secretary, duly proposed and seconded, not later than 1st
October and the Secretary shall then, within seven days, dispatch a copy of the Notice of Motion to all member clubs.
By-Laws

Where a team plays a man short the offending side will bowl 2 players x 3 woods and the non-offending side
will bowl 3 players x 2 woods. The offending side shall forfeit one third of their shots on that particular rink.

Curtailment of a game by inclement weather. Provide that at least 12 ends have been played; the score at 12
ends shall be the accountable score, whether 12 ends or more have been played. If 12 ends have not been played the game shall
be considered as interrupted and the teams shall meet at another mutually agreed date and the game continued under Bowls
England laws with the players being the same wherever possible and in the event, substitutes shall not have played in
any other rinks in the same match.

If a club fails to fulfil a fixture or a re-arranged fixture the non-offending club shall be awarded 12 points.
